Principal's Message

John Baldwin Community,

As I noted last week, we continue to be busy preparing our campus for students to return in January. We will be piloting two small intervention groups for in-person after school instruction starting the first week of November and continuing through the last week of December before break. Students were selected for these programs based upon ongoing assessment data collected during remote learning. These small groups will provide 45 minutes of instruction that focuses on phonological awareness, word recognition, phonics and decoding. In addition, we will have valuable information as we closely monitor safety protocols, movement on campus, and instructional feedback from this pilot intervention.

I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge JB Parent, Kelly Gomez, who has joined me in bringing the JB Student Council to over 30 students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. We are two meetings into our work and are very impressed by the amazing energy and enthusiasm of our students. Admittedly, conducting Student Council remotely presents a fair share of challenges, but our students are looking forward to helping with Family Trivia Night, publicizing important information in the Cougar Weekly, representing our younger grades, attending PTA meetings, providing hospitality to staff and new families, and developing school wide spirit days. Look for more information coming soon!

Lastly, I would like to send some appreciation to our PTA for their work in our first remote Red Ribbon Week. It has been so fun to jump into the remote learning environments to see the mustaches and crazy hair! I cannot wait to see what Friday looks like with all of the amazing costumes.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's learning!

Joe Romagna
